NIGERIA JOURNAL OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT

CALL FOR PAPERS

A call for well-researched original articles is hereby made for publication in XX, Nos 1&2 of 2019.

The Nigerian Journal of Public Administration and Local Government (NJPALG) publishes original research and critically reviewed papers on issues relating to the formulation, implementation and analysis of policies in Public Administration and Local Government in developing and advanced economies. Manuscripts for peer review in this Journal are received on the understanding that they are original and unpublished. Authors are requested to submit their articles online to: editor.njpalg@unn.edu.ng and two copies of Manuscripts to the Editor. Manuscripts should be prepared and submitted on MS-Word font size 12, Times New Roman and double line spacing. Authors should strictly conform to APA 6th edition referencing style.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts conform to the Journal style. The Editors will not undertake retyping of manuscripts before publication. The author’s contact details; institutional affiliation, postal address, email address and telephone number should be contained in a separated file or page from the manuscript itself.

Each paper should have an abstract of about 150 words, in a single paragraph, showing the aim, scope and conclusions of the paper. Manuscript should not exceed 20 pages including the references (maximum of 5500 words). Any article that exceeds the word count may not be considered for peer review.

Authors are required to make payment of ten thousand naira (N10,000.00) processing fee via Diamond Bank PLC, Account Name: Public Administration and Local Government. Account Number 0097162921. Authors whose works are accepted for publications would be required to pay into the said account an additional sum of twenty thousand naira (N20,000.00) as publication fee. A final decision on every manuscript will be communicated to the corresponding author with reviewer’s comments.

The NJPALG is published twice a year. Articles can therefore be received anytime of the year.

The Department of Public Administration and Local Government, University of Nigeria, Nsukka started as a centre created by the Federal Government for the training of low and middle level manpower for the third tier of government – the Local government, in 1979. The programme saw to the emergence of highly professionalized career officials at the Local Government level. The catchment States covered by the Department are Abia, Akwa-Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa, Benue, Cross River, Ebonyi, Enugu, Kogi Imo and Rivers.
Now a full-fledged Department, it offers the following programmes:
1) Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Public Administration and Local Government.
2) Bachelor of Science Degree in Local Government Studies (B.Sc);
3) Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Administration Studies (B.Sc);
4) Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration and Local government (PGD);
5) Master Degree in Public Administration (MPA);
6) Master of Science Degree in Public Administration (M.Sc);
7) Doctor of Public Administration (DPA) and
8) Doctor of Philosophy in Public Administration (Ph.D).
Our undergraduate programmes are designed to produce world-class graduates who can favourably compete with their counterparts all over the world. Through the courses, researches and teachings that make up these programmes, students acquaint themselves with knowledge and skills in Public Sector Management, Public Policy, the Management of Public Finance, Public Programmes/Projects, Human Resource Management, Development Administration etc.
The Masters and Doctorate programmes in the Department are fashioned to help meet the challenges of shaping and delivering effective public services in a climate of continuous change, as well as equipping one with skills and understanding needed to operate effectively in an increasingly competitive environment.
The Department is loaded with academics who have very impressive reputation for research and whose ideas are published around the world. More so, our flexible programmes, teaching and excellent resources are designed to meet the needs of those studying full-time and busy professionals aiming to manage part-time study with full-time employment. Very regularly, the Department is engaged in high profile training workshops and retreats for different cadres of Local Government Staff, Public Servants, Political Office Holders, Civil Servants and Key Officers in the Private Sector.
